Message
I am only one, but
I am one. I cannot do everything, but I
can do something. And I will not let what
I cannot do interfere with what I can
do.

It is with a heavy heart that I announce my
resignation as president. It has truly
been an honor to serve the past 2-1/2 years on
the board. We have a great reputation with
the City of Oviedo and an amazing group of club
members. It is extremely important that we
continue to strengthen our relationship with the
city and meet our membership needs. Long
work hours, travel, and other personal
commitments have led me to make this difficult
decision, but one that is in the best interest
of our club members.
Erin Monroe, who was serving as Vice
President this year, has agreed to step into the
role of President. There is no doubt...we
will be in great hands under her
leadership. She is super bright and has a
strong passion for our community and
photography.
This is not a goodbye from me, as I will
continue to be actively involved in volunteering
at meetings, events, and anywhere needed.
Thank you for your continued support and
commitment to our club and
community.

Field
Trip and Annual Picnic

Our May field trip will be held at the
Orlando Wetlands Park and will be followed by
our 4th Annual Oviedo Photo Club Picnic. We have
reserved a picnic pavilion for the day so you
are welcome to arrive as early as you'd like and
stay as long as you wish. Bring your camera, bug
spray, sunscreen and water to take along on the
hike. The club will have water at the
pavilion for lunch. Pets are not allowed
in the park. To participate in the
field trip hike please plan to arrive by 8:00
am. Please
RSVP for the Field Trip and include
your cell phone number. Let us know when
you RSVP if you will be staying for the picnic.
There are 18 miles of berms to walk on so the
length of your hike will be determined by your
route. Please pick up a map at the
entrance and take it with you or take a photo of
it to refer to.
If you only plan
on attending the picnic, please
RSVP, and plan to arrive at the pavilions
between 10:30 and 11:00 am. Bring your
lunch and something to drink. The club will have
water at the pavilion for lunch. If you'd
like, please bring a dessert to
share.
The park opens at sunrise and the wildlife
is most active early in the morning. There
are birds, alligators, bobcats, spiders and
snakes so please take care where you walk.
If you want to come early for sunrise
around 6:20 please be sure to bring a working
flashlight in addition to the items listed

Bring 5-7 photos from recent events or
any other pictures you would like to
share. Be sure to use a labeled folder with
the date on a thumb drive and rename the
photo files with your initials and a
number (ex: OP-1, OP-2, etc.) for the
photos you want to share. This will make it
easier for our projectionist.
If you have photos that you would like help
with, bring them with you! If there is
time, our club members can give you
pointers on what to do.

Hall Gallery Entries

Deadline:

The Oviedo Photo Club
has proudly displayed photographs in the Oviedo
City Hall since 2014. We have ten photographs in
City Hall and eight in the Annex next door. Five
photos are selected for each new theme by our
curator. They
will replace five of the City Hall photos and
those five photos will be moved to the Annex.
The matted photos removed from the annex will
then be provided to the photographers for their
personal
collection.
Our
theme for the next round of photos in City Hall
is "Oviedo Volunteer Events". The photos
must have been taken after January 1, 2017 and
at an event covered by the club.
The deadline for submissions is
Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at midnight. If your
photo is selected you will need to provide a
title and the name of the event it was taken
at.
Photos
may be either landscape or portrait but the
ratio should be 11 x 14. Please submit full size
files at 300 dpi. Photos will not be
disqualified if they do not fit this ratio but
if they are chosen for the gallery they will be
cropped or resized to fit this
ratio.
To
take part simply click here to send an email to
the club and
let us know you wish to participate. You will be
provided a link to a Dropbox folder to upload
your photos. You may add up to 5 photos to your
Dropbox folder. You may change your photos at
anytime before the deadline. Once you have
submitted all of your photos you may wish to
email the club to verify the files transferred
properly. Before being submitted to the
curator the photos will be renamed so the
photographer is anonymous.
After the deadline you will receive
an email with a screenshot showing the
photos you submitted. Other members will not see
the photos submitted unless they are selected
for display by the curator. If your photograph
is selected, there is a $25.00 charge for the
print, mat and backer board. All photos will be
printed by the club for a consistent
appearance. |

Rock N' Blues N' Cars |
Every year the
Club takes photos at the Cops n' Kids Car Show,
Memorial Day and Veterans Day events and concerts.
Would you like to share some of your photos
with the public? The City of Casselberry is
hosting an upcoming exhibit in Casselberry City
Hall in which some of the members of Oviedo Photo
Club may be interested. It is
called the Rock N' Blues N' Cars exhibit, and
it will take place from May 26 to July
26. Artwork drop off is May 18, 10:00
am - 4:00 pm at Casselberry City Hall.
The themes of the show are
rock/blues/jazz, cars, and all things patriotic -
the show opens on May 26 in conjunction with the
City's Rock N' Blues Concert & Car
Show.

You can order shirts and other items
